On June 25th 2018 SUSE announced the new version of their flagship operating system for Linux on Z and LinuxONE. It’s now the 8th major version from SUSE available on the mainframe! All packages and modules have been upgraded to their upstream versions. With this many new features for System Z got added to the distribution.
The kernel level has been updated to 4.12.14-23.1. SLES 15 end of support is 7/31/2028. Here is my usual list of useful links for further reading:
